Hello Linux Geeksters. As you may know, LilyPond is an open-source application for creating music notations and engrave music to computer printouts.
In this article I will show you how to install LilyPond 2.18.0 on Ubuntu, Linux Mint, Pear OS, Elementary OS, Debian Wheezy and Kwheezy.
Because the default repositories of the listed systems contain only deprecated lilypond packages, we have to install LilyPond via the installation script, in order to get the latest version available, LilyPond 2.18.0:
$ wget -c download.linuxaudio.org/lilypond/binaries/linux-x86/lilypond-2.18.0-1.linux-x86.sh
$ sudo chmod +x lilypond-2.18.0-1.linux-x86.sh
$ ./lilypond-2.18.0-1.linux-x86.sh
