Hello Linux Geeksters. As you may know, Pale Moon is an open-source, cross-platform browser based on Mozilla Firefox, being up to 25% faster then the original.
Also worth mentioning, due to the fact that Pale Moon is not affiliated to Mozilla, it will not adopt the Australis interface, keeping an UI inspired by the classical Firefox interface. Also, the support for DRM will not be added by default, the users having the possibility to enable it, via third party plugins.
First, download the Palemoon Installer from sourceforge (if the link becomes invalid because pminstaller reaches a new version, go on sourceforge and download it yourself):
$ wget http://sourceforge.net/projects/pm4linux/files/pminstaller/pminstaller-0.1.6.tar.bz2
Execute the pminstaller script and enter the root password:
$ ./pminstaller.sh
Next, choose Install Pale Moon to install the browser and press OK.
Next, choose latest version from the list and press OK.
After this, the installing process starts:
Before the installation gets done, update-alternatives will be ran and you will be asked to choose the system’s default browser.
This is it. Enjoy.
Also, if you want to import your Firefox profile to Pale Moon, do:
$ cp -R ~/.mozilla/firefox/* ~/.moonchild\ productions/pale\ moon/
Also worth mentioning, due to the fact that Pale Moon is not based on the latest Firefox version, but on Firefox ESR, some extensions may not work on Pale Moon.
