Firefox 35.0.1 Is Now Available Via The Default Repositories Of All The Supported Ubuntu Systems

Hello Linux Geeksters. As you may know, Firefox 35.0.1 has been recently released, bringing the below changes (among others):

  • Fixed: With the Enhanced Steam extension, Firefox could crash
  • Fixed: Fix a potential startup crash
  • Fixed: Kerberos authentication did not work with alias
  • Fixed: SVG / CSS animation had a regression causing rendering issues on websites like openstreemap.org
  • Fixed: On Godaddy webmail, Firefox could crash
  • Fixed: document.baseURI did not get updated to document.location after base tag was removed from DOM for site with a CSP
  • Fixed: With a Right-to-left (RTL) version of Firefox, the text selection could be broken
  • Fixed: CSP had a change in behavior with regard to case sensitivity resources loading
  • New: Firefox Hello with new rooms-based conversations model
  • New: New search UI improved and enabled for more locales
  • New: Access the Firefox Marketplace from the Tools menu and optional toolbar button
  • New: Improved handling of dynamic styling changes to increase responsiveness

Firefox 35.0.1 Is Now Available Via The Default Repositories Of All The Supported Ubuntu Systems

Recently, Firefox 35.0.1 has been added to the default repositories of all the supported Ubuntu systems, so installing it on Ubuntu 15.04 Vivid Vervet, Ubuntu 14.10 Utopic Unicorn, Ubuntu 14.04 Trusty Tahr, Ubuntu 12.04 Precise Pangolin, Linux Mint 17.1 Rebecca, Linux Mint 17 Qiana, Linux Mint 13 Maya, Pinguy OS 14.04, Elementary OS 0.3 Freya, Elementary OS 0.2 Luna, Deepin 2014, Peppermint Five, LXLE 14.04, Linux Lite 2 is easy. Just update the local repository index and install the firefox package. Like this:

$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get install firefox

Optional, to remove firefox, do:

$ sudo apt-get remove firefox
