Hello Linux Geeksters. As you may know, Firefox 36 will be released tomorrow, on the 24th of February. For now, we know for sure that it will not be bringing native YouTube HTML5 Playback, but will bring a feature that allows the users to sync their new tab page’s pinned tiles with all the other devices running Firefox.
A second major feature is support for the brand-new HTTP/2 protocol, which will enable a faster and more responsable web navigation. While HTTP/2 has been released last week, a lot of new technologies will adopt it shortly.
For now, the latest version available (containing the mentioning features) is Firefox 36 Beta 10 and can be installed on Ubuntu 15.04, Ubuntu 14.10, Ubuntu 14.04, Ubuntu 12.04 and derivative systems, via a third party PPA.
So, if you want to install Firefox 36 Beta 10 on Ubuntu 15.04 Vivid Vervet, Ubuntu 14.10 Utopic Unicorn, Ubuntu 14.04 Trusty Tahr, Ubuntu 12.04 Precise Pangolin, Linux Mint 17.1 Rebecca, Linux Mint 17 Qiana, Linux Mint 13 Maya, Pinguy OS 14.04, Elementary OS 0.3 Freya, Elementary OS 0.2 Luna, Deepin 2014, Peppermint Five, LXLE 14.04, Linux Lite 2 and other Ubuntu derivative systems, add the PPA to your system, update the local repository index and install the firefox package:
$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ricotz/mozilla
$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get install firefox
Optional, to remove firefox, do:
$ sudo apt-get remove firefox
