Hello Linux Geeksters. As you may know, Ubuntu 15.04 Vivid Vervet has been released about three weeks ago, but Ubuntu Touch still uses Ubuntu 14.10 Utopic Unicorn as code base.
After the latest OTA Update, which brought battery improvements and squashed some bugs, we expected that the development will switch to Ubuntu 15.04, but it did not happen yet.
Now, the Ubuntu Online Summit takes part and new information regarding future Ubuntu systems has been revealed. It looks like a new OTA update (OTA 3.5) providing bug-fixes will become available in the following days, containing patches for critical issues like Localtion Services, data support or issues regarding 3G.
Also, at the end of the month, a new OTA update (OTA 4) will become available, switching the code to Ubuntu 15.04 Vivid Vervet. OTA 4 will bring web browser enhancements, better search suggestions, full-screen improvements, enhanced scrolling smoothness, better settings panel, proper save/restore navigation state, address book enhancements, support for importing SIM contacts and enhanced first-time user experience.
Also worth mentioning: While the development of Ubuntu 15.10 has already started, there are no plans to integrate it with the Ubuntu Touch Devel branch yet.
