Avidemux 2.6.10 Brings New Feature and Bug-Fixes. Install It On Ubuntu 15.04 And Ubuntu 14.10

Avidemux is an open-source, cross-platform tool for video editing, written in C++ and using Qt for its GUI. It allows the user to cut, filter and encode videos easily, having support for the most popular file types, including: AVI, DVD, MPEG, MP4 and others.

The latest version available is Avidemux 2.6.10, bringing the below changes:

  • Fixing some packaging issues
  • Re-added translations
  • Re-added avsproxy
  • Fixed multi passes with x264 when file has non ascii chars
  • Added experimental Qt5 build for mac
  • Fixed a bug with filler frames (fraps)

Installation instructions:

The latest version of Avidemux has been added to the GetDeb repositories, so that the users can easily install the app and keep it updated.

Avidemux is available in two versions, GTK and Qt, the first is recommended to be installed on GTK Unity, GNOME, XFCE, Pantheon and the second is ideal for KDE

Install the latest version of Avidemux (GTK) on Ubuntu 15.04 Vivid Vervet:

$ wget -q -O - http://archive.getdeb.net/getdeb-archive.key | sudo apt-key add -
$ sudo sh -c 'echo "deb http://archive.getdeb.net/ubuntu vivid-getdeb apps" >> /etc/apt/sources.list.d/getdeb.list'
$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get install avidemux2.6

Install the latest version of Avidemux (Qt) on Ubuntu 15.04 Vivid Vervet:

$ wget -q -O - http://archive.getdeb.net/getdeb-archive.key | sudo apt-key add -
$ sudo sh -c 'echo "deb http://archive.getdeb.net/ubuntu vivid-getdeb apps" >> /etc/apt/sources.list.d/getdeb.list'
$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get install avidemux2.6-qt

Optional, to remove avidemux2.6 (either GTK or Qt), do:

$ sudo apt-get remove avidemux2.6*

Install the latest version of Avidemux (GKT) on Ubuntu 14.04 Trusty Tahr, Linux Mint 17.1 Rebecca, Linux Mint 17 Qiana, Pinguy OS 14.04, Elementary OS 0.3 Freya, Deepin 2014, Peppermint Five, LXLE 14.04 and Linux Lite 2 systems:

$ wget -q -O - http://archive.getdeb.net/getdeb-archive.key | sudo apt-key add -
$ sudo sh -c 'echo "deb http://archive.getdeb.net/ubuntu vivid-getdeb apps" >> /etc/apt/sources.list.d/getdeb.list'
$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get install avidemux2.6

Optional, to remove avidemux2.6 (either GTK or Qt), do:

$ sudo apt-get remove avidemux2.6*

Install the latest version of Avidemux (Qt) on Ubuntu 14.04 Trusty Tahr, Linux Mint 17.1 Rebecca, Linux Mint 17 Qiana, Pinguy OS 14.04, Elementary OS 0.3 Freya, Deepin 2014, Peppermint Five, LXLE 14.04 and Linux Lite 2 systems:

$ wget -q -O - http://archive.getdeb.net/getdeb-archive.key | sudo apt-key add -
$ sudo sh -c 'echo "deb http://archive.getdeb.net/ubuntu vivid-getdeb apps" >> /etc/apt/sources.list.d/getdeb.list'
$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get install avidemux2.6-qt

Optional, to remove avidemux2.6 (either GTK or Qt), do:

$ sudo apt-get remove avidemux2.6*
