A new Vivaldi Snapshot has been released, bringing both bug-fixes and new features.
As you may know, Vivaldi is a Chromium-based open-source internet browser, built by the Opera founder. It did not reach a stable version yet, but it is already usable.
The first Vivaldi version was very fast, but it lacked a lot of features, while the second version brought many new features and kept the speed. The developers have started pushing updates more often and now, the latest version (Vivaldi Snapshot 1.0.196.2) brings the below changes:
- SpatNav avoid page scrolling
- Globally register Ctrl+Shift+V
- Keyboard settings titles splitted
- Spatial navigation selection of element improvements
- Spatnav skips element
- Spatial navigation doesn’t follow horizontal links
- Change interval of UI Zoom slider to 5% instead of 10%
- Spatnav need to use the regular keyboard shortcut system
- Spatnav doesn’t fire mouseout/mouseleave events
- Bookmark description is not used when searching for bookmarks
- Double new tab when CMD + T on Mac
- Need a way to turn off spatnav
- Keyboard shortcuts doesn’t work on web.tweetdeck.com
- Go to URL should be easier with quick command than it is now.
- Installer opening a second installer window
- “Page actions” translation is missing
- Paste and go context menu on adress bar
- Add new folder button becomes invisible after a few clicks

The Vivaldi website provides both deb and rpm packages of the latest versions of Vivaldi, so installing the browser should not be difficult. Just download the deb/rpm package matching your system’s architecture (i386/i686 for 32 bit systems and amd64/x86_64 for 64 bit systems) and install the package via the default package manager (dpkg or rpm):
