Vivaldi Snapshot 1.0.201.2 Received a Gray UI

 Vivaldi Snapshot 1.0.201.2 received a new, gray user interface.

As you may know, Vivaldi is a Chromium-based open-source internet browser, built by the Opera founder. It did not reach a stable version yet, but it is already usable.

The first Vivaldi version was very fast, but it lacked a lot of features, while the second version brought many new features and kept the speed.  Recently, Vivaldi Snapshot 1.0.201.2 has been released, bringing a new, gray user interface, received support for customizable mouse gestures, and improve the search engine management component and spatial navigation functionality for the web browser.

  • Paste and Go menu item missing on main Mac menu
  • Improve usability of adding URLs to “startup with specific pages”
  • Spatial navigation results in slow scroll
  • Spatial nav does not go into article with teasers at Heise

  • CTRL + U opens tab in HTML code instead of underline text in textfield
  • Importing bookmarks from Opera 15+ only imports “Bookmarks Bar” folder
  • spatial nav shortcuts for open link in new/background tab don’t work
  • Shortcuts for selecting to beginning/end of line overwritten on Mac
  • View menu string not seperated for Mac
  • Settings page category sidebar layout is defective
  • Prevent closing a pinned tab with either the middle mouse button or a double click
  • Spatial navigation should support menu key
  • Focus in address bar lost when switching tabs/text selection is not removed
  • Search dropdown/urldropdown does not go away when clicking on a tab
  • Increase list of spatial navigation targets to all interactive elements
  • Address is not loaded back to the address field if it is erased
  • Add elements with tabindex >=0 as spatial navigation targets
  • Auto-update on mac should check on startup, like the win version
  • Speed dial doesn’t animate correctly between groups/tabs
  • Spatial Navigation can’t focus textarea
  • Search engine url field too small in existing search engine settings
  • Need better management of search engines

Installation instructions:

The Vivaldi website provides both deb and rpm packages of the latest versions of Vivaldi, so installing the browser should not be difficult. Just download the deb/rpm package matching your system’s architecture (i386/i686 for 32 bit systems and amd64/x86_64 for 64 bit systems) and install the package via the default package manager (dpkg or rpm):

How to install Vivaldi Snapshot on 64 bit systems using rpm packages:

$ wget https://vivaldi.com/download/download.php?f=vivaldi-snapshot-1.0.201.2-1.x86_64.rpm -O vivaldi-snapshot.x86_64.rpm
$ sudo rpm -i vivaldi-snapshot.x86_64.rpm

The installation instructions should work on all the Linux systems using deb packages: Ubuntu, Linux Mint, Pinguy OS, Elementary OS, Deepin, Peppermint, LXLE, Linux Lite, Debian, SparkyLinux, Robolinux and systems using rpm packages: , CentOS, OpenSUSE, Mageia, OpenSUSE and ROSA Desktop.
