BleachBit 1.8 has been recently released, bringing changes.
As you may know, BleachBit is a cleanup program (the Linux equivalent of the CCleaner from Windows), that gets rid of the temporary files on your computer, reduces the number on useless files, in order to increase the free space and the system performance.
The latest version available is BleachBit 1.8, which brings the below changes:
- In Preferences, there is a new option “Confirm before delete” that disables the confirmation.
- When BleachBit starts, the window is centered.
- The tool “Shred Settings and Quit” in the File menu is fixed.
- Added cleaning for Opera passwords.
- Shrink storage size of BleachBit icon.
- Add descriptions to many cleaners.
- Add a new command line option –debug-log that logs debug messages to a file.
- Replace hard-coded localizations cleaning system with CleanerML entries.
- Whitelist /tmp/fsa for FSArchiver.
- Suppress GTK+ warning in console.
Installation instructions:
For Ubuntu 15.04 Vivid Vervet and derivative systems, the latest versions of Bleachbit are available via some third party PPA, so installing the software is piece of cake. Just add the PPA to your system, update the local repository index and install the bleachbit package:
$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:n-muench/programs-ppa
$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get install bleachbit
Optional, to remove bleachbit, do:
$ sudo apt-get remove bleachbit
