As you may know, Quite Universal Circuit Simulator (QUCS) is an open-source circuit simulator allowing the students and engineers to design analog and digital systems.
The latest version available is Qucs 0.0.19 which is is available only as an alpha version, but it already has interesting features, like:
- DC/AC/ S-parameter Simulation
- Harmonic Balance Analysis
- Noise Analysis
- Transient Analysis
- Schematic Editor
- Import SPICE Models
- Various Models and Components (HICUM, BSIM2, BSIM3, OpAmps, Diodes, MOSFETs, PMOSFETs), etc.
Installation instructions:
The latest Qucs builds are available via some third party PPA, so installing the software on Ubuntu systems is easy. You just need to add the PPA to your system, update the local repository index and install the qucs package:
$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:fransschreuder1/qucs
$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get install qucs
Optional, to remove qucs, do:
$ sudo apt-get remove qucs
The installation instructions should work on Ubuntu 15.04 Vivid Vervet, Ubuntu 14.10 Utopic Unicorn, Ubuntu 14.04 Trusty Tahr and derivative systems like Linux Mint 17.2 Rafaela, Linux Mint 17.1 Rebecca, Linux Mint 17 Qiana, Pinguy OS 14.04, Elementary OS 0.3 Freya, Deepin 2014, Peppermint 6, Peppermint 5, LXLE 14.04 and Linux Lite 2.
