As you may know, Solus OS is an interesting, open-source Linux system with a pretty and lightweight desktop environment named Budgie.

Ikey Doherty, the main developer of the OS has done a great job so far, the system being close to a stable released, for now, the first RC version of the system being a available.

Recently, the Solus OS team of developers have announced that their OS has adopted the latest GNOME Stack (GNOME 3.18), and now they need to re-written some parts of the Budgie, to support the new DE. The developers have temporary renamed Budgie to Ark Desktop, so that there will not be any issues with library conflicts.

Josh Strobl announcement:

“The rewrite of Budgie has seen some considerable progress and development that has been accelerated by the need to resolve issues that arose during the GNOME 3.18 Stack upgrade. As some of you may be aware, a keyboard issue has arisen since the Stack upgrade where pressing certain numbers on your keyboard will control font scaling instead. This issue specifically affects users of the Budgie desktop environment,”
