Mageia 4 Has Been Released

Hello Linux Geeksters. The stable version of Mageia 4 has been released a while ago, and is now available for download. For those who don’t know, Mageia is a bleeding edge derivate of the good old Mageia.

Mageia 4 Has Been Released

Among others, Mageia 4 comes with and updated urmpi package manager, systemd 208, Kernel 3.12.8, Libreoffice 4.1.3.2, syslinux 6.02, Mesa 10.0, Mageia 4 Gnome and Mageia 4 KDE, still uses GRUB 1, while GRUB 2 can be optionally installed, and comes with experimental UEFI support.

Mageia 4 GNOME uses GNOME 3.10.2.1, comes with packages ported to GTK+3, updates for the following packages: drak3d, drakpxelinux, drakx-finish-install raklive-installer, drakwizard, drakxtools, drakx, gurpmi, mgaonline, net_monitor, rpmdrake, transfugdrake and userdrake, while Mageia 4 KDE comes with KDE 4.11.4 and improved kscreen and Qt 4.8.5.

Also, LXDE, XFCE, Mate and Cinnamon can be installed directly via the liveCD.

Last but not least, Mageia 4 also comes with the brand new Mageia Welcome News, that includes links to popular Mageia sites and forums.
