Hello Linux Geeksters. In this short article I will show you how to reset both the Unity and Compiz settings, on Ubuntu 14.04 Trusty Tahr.
To reset Compiz, open a terminal and do:
$ dconf reset -f /org/compiz/
Now that you have just got the default Compiz setting and efects restart Unity to see the changes, with the below command:
$ setsid unity
Also, if you want to reset Unity to the default launcher icons, do:
$ unity --reset-icons
Now log out and log back in, to see the changes.
As a reminder, Ubuntu 14.04 Trusty Tahr LTS (which will be released on the 17th of April 2014) will come with some important changes and new features, including: Kernel 3.13.8 as default, a feature for minimizing the windows by single clicking the launcher, locally integrated menus (a feature also present on GNOME 3.12), improved shutdown dialogs, a new feature that allows the users to increase the volume up to 200%, a rewritten Unity 7 with support for window filtering by title, Unity Control Center as a replacement for GNOME Control Center, and of course, a new default wallpaper and 11 other pretty wallpapers submitted and voted by the community.
