Hello Linux Geeksters. As you may know, FrostWire is a free, open-source, cross-platform BitTorrent application, running on Linux, Mac OS X and Windows. The latest version available is FrostWire 5.7.2, which has been released recently, coming with the below changes:

In this article I will show you how to install FrostWire 5.7.2 on Ubuntu, Linux Mint, Elementary OS, Debian, Kwheezy, Crunchbang and their derivative systems.

For Ubuntu 14.04 Trusty Tahr, Ubuntu 13.10 Saucy Salamander, Ubuntu 12.04 Precise Pangolin, Linux Mint 17 Qiana, Linux Mint 16 Petra, Linux Mint 13 Maya and Elementary OS 0.2, FrostWire 5.7.2 is available via the GetDeb repository. Follow the instructions for your system exactly, in order to get a successful installation.

How to install FrostWire 5.7.2 on Ubuntu 14.04 and Linux Mint 17:

$ wget -q -O - http://archive.getdeb.net/getdeb-archive.key | sudo apt-key add -
$ sudo sh -c 'echo "deb http://archive.getdeb.net/ubuntu trusty-getdeb apps" >> /etc/apt/sources.list.d/getdeb.list'
$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get install frostwire

Optional, to remove frostwire, do:

$ sudo apt-get remove frostwire

How to install FrostWire 5.7.2 on Ubuntu 13.10 and Linux Mint 16:

$ wget -q -O - http://archive.getdeb.net/getdeb-archive.key | sudo apt-key add -
$ sudo sh -c 'echo "deb http://archive.getdeb.net/ubuntu saucy-getdeb apps" >> /etc/apt/sources.list.d/getdeb.list'
$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get install frostwire

Optional, to remove frostwire, do:

$ sudo apt-get remove frostwire

How to install FrostWire 5.7.2 on Ubuntu 12.04, Linux Mint 13 and Elementary OS 0.2:

$ wget -q -O - http://archive.getdeb.net/getdeb-archive.key | sudo apt-key add -

$ sudo apt-get update

Optional, to remove frostwire, do:

For Debian, Kwheezy and Crunchbang other Ubuntu and Linux Mint systems, we have to download the FrostWire 5.7.2 deb package and install it via the command line. I prefer gdebi over dpkg, due to the fact that it also handles dependencies:

$ sudo apt-get instal gdebi
$ wget dl.frostwire.com/frostwire/5.7.2/frostwire-5.7.2.all.deb
$ sudo gdebi frostwire-5.7.2.all.deb

Optional, to remove frostwire do:

$ sudo apt-get remove frostwire
