Hello Linux Geeksters. As a reminder, Ubuntu 13.10 Saucy Salamander will reach end of life on the 17th of July 2014, being released only with nine months of support.
After it reaches EOL, Ubuntu 13.10 will be still usable, but the users will not receive any updates and security patches anymore. Also, the developers will not be able to add applications on Lauchpad, with support for Ubuntu 13.10. Along with the EOL of Ubuntu 13.10, also the derivative systems like Linux Mint 16 will die.
In this article I will show you how to upgrade you Ubuntu 13.10 Saucy Samander system to Ubuntu 14.04 Trusty Tahr.
The upgrading process is quite easy and straing-forward. All you have to do is install the Update Manager Core:
$ sudo apt-get install update-manager-core
And run the upgrade process and follow the GUI instructions:
$ sudo do-release-upgrade
