Hello Linux Geeksters. As you may know, QuiteRSS is an open-source RSS reader, written on Qt and C++.

The latest version available is QuiteRSS 0.16.1, which has been released a while ago, coming with a bunch of fixes and some features, including: the ability to filter the news by link, allowing the users to share news on LinkedIn and Blogger and color adjustment for both the feeds with update disabled and the alternating rows background of the new list.

In this article I will show you how to install QuiteRSS 0.16.1 on Ubuntu 14.04 Trusty Tahr, Ubuntu 13.10 Saucy Salamander, Ubuntu 12.04 Precise Pangolin, Linux Mint 17 Qiana, Linux Mint 16 Petra, Linux Mint 13 Maya, Pinguy OS 14.04, Pinguy OS 12.04, Elementary OS 0.3 Freya, Elementary OS 0.2 Luna, LXLE 14.04, Linux Lite 2.0, Deepin 2014, Peppermint Five and other Ubuntu derivative systems.

Because it is available via PPA, installing QuiteRSS 0.16.0 on the listed Ubuntu, Linux Mint, Pinguy OS, Elementary OS, LXLE, Linux Lite, Peppermint, Deepin systems is easy. All you have to do is add the ppa to your system, update the local repository index and install the quiterss package.

$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:quiterss/quiterss
$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get install quiterss

Optional, to remove quiterss, do:

$ sudo apt-get remove quiterss
