Hello Linux Geeksters. As you may know, GPaste is a clipboard manager, enabling the users to keep track of the “copy history”. It is a copy history application, with versioning support, enabling the users to easily get back to older content that was copied to the clipboard.
Gpaste contains 5 different tools: gpasted, which is the gpaste daemon, gpaste, the command-line tool, gpaste-settings, the configuration tool, gpaste-applet, the applet for Unity and gnome-shell-extensions-gpaste, the gnome shell extension for Gnome.
The latest version available is GPaste 3.10.2, which has been released a while ago. Among others, it dropped the support for systemd, it got built-in support for managing passwords and man pages, completions, bug-fixes and translations have been added.
In this article I will show you how to install GPaste 3.10.2 on Ubuntu 14.04 Trusty Tahr, using either GNOME or Unity.
Because it is available via PPA, installing GPaste 3.10.2 on Ubuntu 14.04 is easy. All you have to do is add the needed ppa to your system, update the local repository index and install the gpaste package. Like this:
$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:webupd8team/gnome3
$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get install gpaste
Optinal, to remove gpaste, do:
$ sudo apt-get remove gpaste
