Hello Linux Geeksters. As you may know, pkTriggerCord in an open-source application that enables the users to control the camera (connected by USB) via the computer. The app is ideal for taking pictures, reading status information and changing camera settings directly from the computer.
It has official support only for the Pentax cameras: Pentax K-x, Pentax K10D (Samsung GX-10), Pentax K20D (Samsung GX-20), Pentax K200D, Pentax K-7, Pentax K-r, Pentax K-5, Pentax K-m / K2000, Pentax K-30, Pentax K-01 (bugs), Pentax K-5 II / K-5 IIs.
The latest version available is pkTriggerCord 0.81.04, which has been recently released.
In this article I will show you how to install pkTriggerCord 0.81.04 on Ubuntu, Linux Mint, Elementary OS, Pinguy OS, LXLE, Deepin, Linux Lite, Peppermint, Debian, Kwheezy, Crunchbang, SparkyLinux, Fedora, CentOS, OpenSUSE, Mageia, OpenMandriva and Raspbian (Debian Wheezy for Raspberry Pi).
For Ubuntu 14.04 and derivative systems: Linux Mint 17, Pinguy OS 14.04, LXLE 14.04, Deepin 2014, Elementary OS 0.3 Freya, Peppermint Five, Linux Lite 2.0, pkTriggerCord 0.81.04 is available via some third party PPA, so installing it is easy. All you have to do is add the ppa to your system, update the local repository index and install the pktriggercord package. Like this:
$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:dhor/myway
$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get install pktriggercord
Also, to a deb package for ARM is available for Raspbian, so installing pkTriggerCord 0.81.04 is easy. Just download the deb package and install it via gdebi:
$ sudo apt-get install gdebi
$ wget sourceforge.net/projects/pktriggercord/files/0.81.04/pktriggercord_0.81.04-1_armhf.deb
$ sudo gdebi pktriggercord_0.81.04-1_armhf.deb
Optional, to remove pktriggercord, from either Ubuntu 14.04 (and derivatives) and Raspbian, do:
$ sudo apt-get remove pktriggercord
Also, for the listed RPM based systems: Fedora, CentOS, OpenSUSE, Mageia and OpenMandriva, pkTriggerCord 0.81.04 is available as rpm, so we have to download it and install it via the default package manager. Follow the instructions for your system and architecture exactly, in order to get a successful installation.

To start it, just type pktriggercord in a terminal and hit enter.
