Hello Linux Geeksters. As you may know, Pump.io is a general purpose activity streams engine, coming as a followup for StatusNet or Identi.ca, providing what most of the people really want from a social network.

Pumpa is an open-source, pump.io client written in C++ and Qt. The latest version available is Pumpa 0.8.4, which has been released a while ago, coming with bug-fixes.

In this article I will show you how to install Pumpa 0.8.4 on Ubuntu 14.10 Utopic Unicorn, Ubuntu 14.04 Trusty Tahr, Linux Mint 17 Qiana, Pinguy OS 14.04, Elementary OS 0.3 Freya, Peppermint Five, Deepin 2014, LXLE 14.04, Linux Lite 2.0 and other Ubuntu 14.04 derivative systems.

Because it is available via PPA, installing Pumpa 0.8.4 on Ubuntu 14.10, Ubuntu 14.04 and derivative systems is easy. All you have to do is add the ppa to your system, update the local repository index and install the pumpa package. Like this:

$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:skellat/flow1
$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get install pumpa

Optional, to remove pumpa, do:

$ sudo apt-get remove pumpa
