Hello Linux Geeksters. As you may know, JRiver Media Center is an open-source media player that allows the users to collect, organize and play media files.
Main features:
- Copy music from Media Player to digital audio player
- Burn audio CDs
- Record shows from TV
- Play different music simultaneously, in different rooms
- Support for JPG, BMP, TIFF, RAW and PNG support
- Got basic image editing features
- Support for exporting images from camera and load them into the media library
In this article I will show you how to install JRiver Media Center 20.0.7 on Ubuntu 14.04 Trusty Tahr, Linux Mint 17 Qiana, Pinguy OS 14.04, Elementary OS 0.3 Freya, Peppermint Five, Deepin 2014, LXLE 14.04, Linux Lite 2.0 and other Ubuntu 14.04 derivative systems.
Because it is not available via any repository or PPA, we have to download the deb package and install it by hand. I prefer gdebi over dpkg due to the fact that it also handles dependencies:
$ sudo apt-get install gdebi
$ wget http://files.jriver.com/mediacenter/channels/v20/latest/MediaCenter-20.0.7.deb
$ sudo gdebi MediaCenter-20.0.7.deb
Optional, to remove JRiver Media Center, do:
$ sudo apt-get remove mediacenter20
