Hello Linux Geeksters. As you may know, Gyazo is an open-source screenshot tool which permits the users to easily upload their screenshots to Facebook, Twitter, Google+ and Tumblr, among other social services.
Also worth mentioning, the users can either capture only a part of the screen or the whole desktop. Once you take a print screen via Gyazo, your image gets automatically uploaded to Gyazo.com and the default browser opens, on the image’s link.
While Gyazo 2.0 has been released, the latest Linux version available is Gyazo 1.0.
In this article I will show you how to install Gyazo 1.0 on Ubuntu 14.10 Utopic Unicorn, Ubuntu 14.04 Trusty Tahr, Ubuntu 12.04 Precise Pangolin, Linux Mint 17 Qiana, Linux Mint 13 Maya, Pinguy OS 14.04, Elementary OS 0.3 Freya, Elementary OS 0.2 Luna, Peppermint Five, Deepin 2014, LXLE 14.04, Linux Lite 2.0, Debian Jessie, Debian Wheezy and other Ubuntu/Debian derivative systems.
Because it is not available via any repository or PPA, we have to download the deb package from GitHub and install it via command-line. I prefer gdebi over dpkg, due to the fact that it also handles dependencies.
Follow the below instructions exactly, in order to get a successful installation:
$ sudo apt-get install gdebi
$ wget https://github.com/downloads/kambara/Gyazo-for-Linux/gyazo_1.0-1_all.deb
$ sudo gdebi gyazo_1.0-1_all.deb
Optional, to remove gyazo, do:
$ sudo apt-get remove gyazo
