Hello Linux Geeksters. As you may know, Firefox 33 stable has been recently released, coming with support for OpenH264, via the H.264 library developed by Cisco.
Also worth mentining, Firefox 33 comes with optimizations for session respore, JavaScript and HTML5 enhancements, search suggestions on either the Firefox Start (about:home) and new tab (about:newtab) pages, a new CSP (Content Security Policy) backend, support for connecting to HTTP proxy over HTTPS and new features for developers.

In this article I will show you how to install Firefox 33.0 on Ubuntu 14.10 Utopic Unicorn, Ubuntu 14.04 Trusty Tahr, Ubuntu 12.04 Precise Pangolin, Linux Mint 17 Qiana, Linux Mint 13 Maya, Elementary OS 0.3 Freya, Elementary OS 0.2 Luna, Pinguy OS 14.04, Peppermint Five, Deepin 2014, LXLE 14.04, Linux Lite 2.0, Debian Jessie, Debian Wheezy, Fedora 21, Fedora 20, OpenSUSE 13.1, OpenSUSE 12.3, Mageia 4, OpenMandriva 2014, Arch Linux and Manjaro systems.
Because Firefox 33 is not available via any repository yet, we have to download Firefox 32 from the Mozilla site, extract the archive, move to /opt and alias the launcher.
Follow the instructions for your system’s architecture exactly, in order to get a successful installation.
How to install Firefox 33 on 32 bit Linux systems:
$ wget ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/33.0/linux-i686/en-US/firefox-33.0.tar.bz2
$ tar -xjvf firefox-33.0.tar.bz2
$ sudo rm -rf /opt/firefox*
$ sudo mv firefox /opt/firefox33.0
$ sudo ln -sf /opt/firefox33.0/firefox /usr/bin/firefox
To start Firefox 33, just open a terminal, type firefox and hit enter.
How to install Firefox 33 on 64 bit Linux systems:
$ wget ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/33.0/linux-x86_64/en-US/firefox-33.0.tar.bz2
$ tar -xjvf firefox-33.0.tar.bz2
$ sudo rm -rf /opt/firefox*
$ sudo mv firefox /opt/firefox33.0
$ sudo ln -sf /opt/firefox32.0/firefox /usr/bin/firefox
To start Firefox 33, just open a terminal, type firefox and hit enter.
Note: This will replace the version of Firefox you have already on your system with Firefox 33.
