Hello Linux Geeksters. As you may know, Kwheezy 1.5 has been recently released, being based on Debian 7.4 Wheezy. Among others, it uses KDE 4.8.4, which is not new, but it provides stability, uses Kernel 3.2, an improved installer that comes with a boot flag for the root partition, updated apps, the default font has changed to Deja Vu Sans and Google Earth 7, PDF-Shuffler, Quick USB Formatter, KDE Print Manager, Mozilla Firefox 28 and Thunderbird 24.4 are now available by default.
For those who don’t know, Kwheezy is not just Debian with KDE, but it has its own apps, like: Profiler for backing up and restoring profiles, a Switch Video Driver for toggling between GPUs, a Toogle Screens for switching from display to projector easily, the AutoStart Chooser that enables the users to easily make a list of the apps to run at start-up and Localizer, the tool for managing locales.
The best way to get Kwheezy 1.5 is to download the ISO image for your architecture and perform a fresh install. However, if you don’t want that, you can upgrade via the command-line interface, but some packages may not be updated or installed. Do this on your own risk:
$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get upgrade
